Movie mishaps. Continuity errors. Boo boos. Outtakes. Balls ups. Don’t you just love ‘em?!

Welcome to I-Spy. A “web-isode” in which I reveal the hidden wrinkles and worry lines on the smug botoxed face of the silver screen.

There’s an old Italian Proverb, “To him that watches; everything is revealed.” This is certainly true with those movie misdemeanours that are technically referred to as “continuity errors”.

You won’t find these scenes on any ‘out-take’ programme. Oh no. You can just archive your own DVD collection. These are errors that got past the script supervisors, the editors the…well just about everyone. Everyone but me that is.

I never spot such things
What I did spot however: The background is more clearly visible than you are in this episode, blurry Mr. Gayner Also, the advertising is horribly skippy on this one.

Cool show. The picture goes a bit funny in places though. The Batman clip is so obvious now you’ve pointed it out but I’ve never seen it before. Will there be any more of these?

I’ve watched Mr & Mrs Smith loads of times and never noticed the jacket thing. Just replayed it and it’s there! Excellent stuff.

Ha! Hollywood. Not so smug now are you.

You people must have eagle eyes to spot some of those. Weird how these goofs don’t get picked up when they’re filming. Does anyone know if the directors commentary ever mentions the continuity errors?

Good job anyhoo. The guy presenting should be on the telly. I look forward to the next batch of balls ups.

Hey now, all those mishaps and errors give lots of lowly new comers in Hollywood the wonderful jobs of painting out crew members and adding props using a wide range of techniques. Actually there’s a saying that if something manages to get missed 3 times as it’s going through the post-production pipeline it’s not generally worth fixing. (though I’d say that Hancock mess up would’ve been worth a reshoot) On the other hand, there are some directors that are known to be afraid of the kids who frame through their DVDs. ^.^

The studios have done their best over the years to eradicate some of these gaffs each time they re-release a film on DVD. There’s a Lord of the Rings error that only appears on the extended features I think. Personally I think it all adds another dimension for fanboys.

Enjoyed watching the goofs that slip by everyone (even the paid crew) except these super-alert guys. I’ve seen most of those movies and didn’t spot any of the errors. Clever script too. Great job, guys. Big Jack says keep ‘em coming.

Snappy dialogue to demonstrate the fraility of the human condition and how we all get it wrong sometimes even when projects are financed to the maximum.

Lesson to be learned.
