tech: £300 Blu-ray Test - Sony PlayStation 3

For the final part of our cheapie Blu-ray group test we’re looking at the Sony PS3. It’s at the high end of the price point - nipping in at £299 - but given that you get a high-end games console for it as well as the Blu-ray functionality, it’s a rather decent deal. Watch the video for my verdict.

The PS3 has had 24fps since firmware 1.80, though it may need to be turned on in the settings.

As Mark says under ‘BD/DVD settings’ there is an option for ‘BD 1080P 24Hz output’ where you can set it to On, Off or Automatic.

Also, The PS3 has supported profile 2.0 for a while now. Therefore it is the ULTIMATE Blu-Ray player. Haha
