games: Unreal Tournament 3 competition!

***COMPETITION CLOSED***

We’ve got a fantastic competition for all you 360 gamers out there!

This Friday (4th July), the awesome, award-winning first-person-shooter, Unreal Tournament 3, is brought to the Xbox 360. To celebrate, we have five copies of the game to give away to ChannelFlip Games viewers.

Unreal Tournament 3 unleashes the full power of Unreal Engine 3, taking graphics, gameplay, and challenge to a whole new level. Players engage in intense battles with other human players online, or against Unreal artificial intelligence that sets the industry standard. With the most powerful futuristic weapons and vehicles available, this is FPS action at its best! The game has already shipped over 1 million units for PC and PS3.

The 360 version includes several new and exclusive features including split screen, five exclusive maps and two all-new characters, as well as all previously released downloadable content. It also includes an exclusive video preview of Gears of War 2.

For the chance to win your copy, simply email competition@channelflip.com with the answer to this simple question:

What is the name of the race of undead humans created by the Phayder Corporation, who are the main antagonists of Unreal Tournament 3?

Also make sure you include your ChannelFlip username in the email to qualify (register here if you don’t have one!)

Winners will be selected at random from all correct answers received and contacted via email.

Good luck!

Katharine

Would it be wrong for me to enter just so I can sell it on Ebay? :)

Yes :D

I bet it’s a promo copy with a sodding great warning across the front that means you can’t sell it on :D

I entered, but my forum account is up the swanny at present and I can’t login. The email addy is the same though, so hopefully it’s ok.

P.S If any of you channelflip folk could rest my account then that would be great. The automated thing isn’t working for some reason.

Awesome!!

Although i do have a quick question for you Katharine?

I’m in Australia, so can i enter the comp too? or is it another one of those comps I’m going to get excluded from? :(

July 2nd, 2008 - 10:52am

Norbit, if you win I will write your name on the disk in marker pen ;)

Schmung, that should be fine as you’ve told us about it. Can you drop an email to wil@channelflip.com if your account it still playing up? He should be able to sort it out for you.

Beau, as far as I know that shouldn’t be a problem, but I’ll double check and confirm later on.

July 2nd, 2008 - 11:14am

Beau - definitely fine for you (and any other overseas viewer) to enter the comp.

(Bear in mind these will be PAL disks though).

July 2nd, 2008 - 12:50pm

Lucky I’m PAL then!!
UK + Australia FTW ;)

Oh and forgot to say - I’m loving your game reviews Katherine! - i only found out about this website a few months back and went through and watched all your vids from episode 1 up to like 50 or something in like 2 days ^_^

And I’ve always wanted to ask - is that your actual room that you shoot the show in?
If so, thats freaking awesome!

Please keep up the good work :)

July 2nd, 2008 - 2:08pm

Thanks so much Beau, glad you like the show! :)

I’m afraid it’s a studio set. Filming in small rooms is notoriously tricky as there isn’t a lot of space for the camera to move around in or for positioning your lights properly, so having something that’s open on two sides makes all that much easier and it looks better too. However, we didn’t want it to look like a studio and when I designed the set back in October, Wil and I decided we wanted to go for that bedroom/den feel, so I brought in a bunch of posters and toys from my room and piled them all in. I sometimes miss some of my favourites when I’m at home, but I like how cluttered the set looks so it’s all good!

July 3rd, 2008 - 3:25am

Ah ha!
That explains the feel of it ;P

July 4th, 2008 - 2:10am

You should mention this is a PAL copy of the game, Katherine. ;). (on yer post).
It’ll be helpful for people who don’t read comments until much later! (like me, hehehe)

It might go a bit weird on US machines, wouldn’t it?

Some 360 games are essentially region free and will play on any Xbox. I don’t know about UT3, but it might work!

PAL should work in USA according to this site:

Katharine, you should bring in some cushions and rugs from home too, it might reduce the echo a bit!

Seriously though, I do find the reverberation detracts from the cosiness of the set. I’ve noticed it with all of the Channelflip “programs”. I guess you have quite a large studio judging by the sound.

July 4th, 2008 - 11:53am

Jim - thanks for pointing out the issue with the sound. Tbh, I’m not sure what’s causing it, but next time I’m in for filming I will have a chat to Arnold about it and see if we can try to improve it.

July 4th, 2008 - 12:34pm

@Jim Cheers, mate! Very useful info!
I bookmark’ed the link, too!

July 7th, 2008 - 8:37am

OK, competition is now closed. Thanks for all the entries guys, I will be notifying the winners by the end of the week.

July 14th, 2008 - 3:04am

Soooo, who were the lucky winners!?

Gloating space below ^_^

July 14th, 2008 - 10:59am

Oh yeah!

*frags Necris with massive gloat gun* :-D
