tech: £300 Blu-ray Test: Introduction

All this week on ChannelFlip Tech I’m going to be looking at Blu-ray technology. Now that the format wars are over and the format has won a decisive victory, more people are interested in buying into HD.

As the format has matured, prices are now starting to come down. So this week, I am looking at three Blu-ray players that cost under £300 - one from Sony, one from Sharp, and the last - possibly the most popular Blu-ray player around - the PlayStation 3.

One of the things that I have found the most confusing about the next-gen formats are the variety of audio standards. So to get some help, we went down to see Dolby in London to get the low-down - so watch out for that.

Many thanks to Dolby for letting us use their exceptionally nice demo room (complete with 50″ 1080p screen and 7.1 sound). Enjoy the show!

Haha, Wind Waker is the greatest! Would have liked to have tried out Wii sports on that nice screen though :)
