channelflip: “The UK’s finest video magazine for switched on men” ?

Greetings!

Just curious as to the origins of the new strapline for the site as it seems to stereotype visitors a little?

Oh and watch out or VALVe will sue you guys!

To be honest, we don’t know much about creating content for women. We’re all geeks :D

Who said you have to create content specifically for women? I think the comment was suggesting the opposite, that you assume women won’t be interested. There are plenty of female geeks, especially where I work. Just the fact that you have a female presenter suggests that there must be some women who are into Tech and Games, and I don’t know many women who don’t enjoy films.

Of course, men are going to be the vast majority of your audience, but why deter potential viewers for the sake of one word?

I agree with Jim. Saying the site is for Men brings with it all of the Lads Mag image which is clearly not what you guys are doing.

As it stands the look, feel and content of this site should appeal to fans of games, movies and technology regardless of their sex but I feel the banner line may put some people off.

I agree. the tag line is a bit cheesey. I’m here b/c I like all three “shows”. they are funny, intelligent, and usually informative and was disappointed when they went away recently.

the rev3 shows desperately try to be hip and sometimes come off a little insincere. i never get that here.

yeah, I’m a nerd, and male, but, no, I’m not “switched on.”

one more thing. the main page is confusing. i can’t quite tell where the new tech stuff begins and the movie reviews and games end.

that said, I hope the sites is a big success.

Maybe you could alternate the tag line between “switched 0n men” and “turned on women”…oh..maybe not!

Sometimes women like the geeky stuff too, you know.

I think he is right in what he says. I know I’m new to Channel Flip, as Jim and Norbit have said, it isn’t FHM or Nut’s.

That is actually one of the first thing’s I noticed about the site, obvious yes… It’s the banner. But it shouldn’t be just for men.

I agree with the majority - tag line is cheesy and doesn’t fit the feel of the site
