games: Penny Arcade Adventures

Hello!

Today we’re looking at Penny Arcade Adventures Episode 1: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness.

OK, so this probably makes me a MASSIVE nerd, but I was actually more excited about this game coming out then I was about GTA4! Comic book styled point and click adventures? Getting to play a character working side by side with Tycho and Gabe?? This is nerd manna from geek heaven. But with its undeniable charm and wit, and clearly explained tutorials, it is delightfully accessible and will hopefully bring this type of game to a much wider audience then normal.

The footage shown is from a MacBook Pro, and you can download the game for Mac, Windows or Linux from Greenhouse, or download it on XBLA.

Enjoy the show and relish this game.

Another great review.
One tiny thing i had issue with on this review, and the other shows on Channel Flip after the reformat, is that it doesnt have Katharines name on the video.

Only a small thing, that you may have decided not to do, but if you hadnt already watched anything on Channel Flip, it might end up as just ‘that guy’ or ‘the games woman’, which kinda sucks, cos you guys have names!

Thanks Andy :)
I think we’re working on lower thirds so our names appear at the beginning of the videos as they did back in the Play:Digital days, will double check though, it’s a good point.

Woohoo, it is great to see the programs back up :)

The quality is as before so no complaints there, it WOULD however have been nice if the old RSS-feed would have got a small mention that the site had moved and was in business again, I stumbled back onto this by sheer coincidence :)

Also, will THIS site’s RSS-feed be up and running soon? I’d like to re-subscribe to the Games and Tech videos again :D

Heh, that is what I tried, but I only get the link for the Master RSS feed for all things grouped.
I also checked at the top under http://www.channelflip.com/subscribe/ and there are links to the individual RSSes for the shows, but they don’t work yet… (Page under construction it says and the links only go to: http://www.channelflip.com/subscribe/#)

Sorry, the only RSS subscribe-link I can find is for http://feeds.feedburner.com/ChannelFlip/All/RSS and that’s not it for me :P

I’m a total Penny Arcade fan and couldn’t wait to get this. I downloaded it the day it was released. I’m also a big adventure game fan and RPG fan so I was really surprised that I just couldn’t get into the game. I made it as far as the carnival or whatever that was and couldn’t get in and so I just quit playing and haven’t gone back.

I actually feel bad that I don’t like it. Maybe I should force myself to keep playing and something will “click”.

Katharine, glad to see you and the rest of the group back on the web. It made my day when i found I could see some new game reviews and then switch over to find out if the piggy-piggy-snack-snack was good or not.

The game is now also available through Steam, which has the bonus of adding in some achievements to earn.

Hey Dathcha,

We now have several RSS feeds on the Subscribe page at the top which should now be working!

You can get each individual section on video through the iTunes feeds.

You can also get the ‘Master’ RSS via email or via RSS - why not subscribe, you might find some tech and film content that you like every once in a while! :o)
