film: Indie-nana?

Friends!  Who’s seen the latest Indiana Jones film yet? I’ve yet to go as we’ve been flat out relaunching ChannelFlip , but the feedback is mostly good.

Nevertheless, dear ones, a couple of my film loving friends have been left with a sour taste in their mouths. And I’m not just talking about cinema cola.

Their gripery is two-fold. Firstly, there’s a suggestion that the classic ‘old-skool’ photography techniques of the original trilogy have been disbanded. The second revolves around the overblown finale. It sounds to me that Spielberg and Lucas might be going a little soft in their old age. Let me know what you think if you’ve seen the picture. There’s a comments section right below, you know…

The film I thought was ok to watch, entertaining enough, though the dreadful use CGI, i.e. monkeys etc, annoyed me. And yes the ending is to be desired :(

Thoroughly entertaining. Nothing to change the world, but lots of interesting themes woven together acceptably. Even the family story isn’t too cheesy. Picture is a bit soft to make a stunning Blu-ray, but will be worth a look. G’day from Australia.

It had some great moments but it was a disappointing indication of things to come when the very first shot featured a generic CGI ‘cute animal’ for no reason whatsoever. I went with the most kind and hopeful of expectations but, dear Stevie and Georgie, if this is the best you have to give, then you have had your day my friends.

The story was 2nd or 3rd in line. The original movies had a story followed by a spectacular stunt then back to the story for awhile followed by another spectacular stunt…repeat to end of movie. The new movie is as follows: Stunt, spectacular stunt, unbelievable stunt, stunt, stunt, quick mention of something about aliens, stunt, stunt, unbelievable stunt, stupid stunt, idiotic stunt, retarded stunt, stunt…. ….stunt, end of movie, light come on and everyone in theater looks either pissed or bored. George should not be allowed to write screenplays anymore. After Star Wars they should have broke his fingers or something because anymore he just seems to ruin movies.

The problem with this film for me was that having been a life long fan of the originals, I had a strong preconception that this film just had to be great.
My delusion ran out at the ’swinging through the trees’ scecne, I think, although there was a number of other scenes that were equally ridiculous.
I have to agree with the other posters, Spielberg and Lucas just completely missed the nail with this one.
I’ll admit that there were scenes that I really enjoyed, and the small references to the old films were a good opportunity for reminiscing but overall, I felt empty by the closing scene, desperate to just go and watch the old ones again.
