tech: Samsung R60+

Unlike most of Samsung’s other offerings, the R60+ is a budget notebook. As such, it lacks a few features - a digital video out and decent graphics capabilities to name just a couple. But the core power - a 1.6GHz Core 2 Duo, 2GB of RAM and a 250GB HDD - make this an absolute steal for the price, at just £375.

Unlike most budget notebooks, the Samsung also looks the part with a rather swanky glossy black finish. Good stuff.

I have been looking for this laptop online. I can only find ones with 1GB RAM and around 160GB HDD for that price. Where did you find those specs for that price?

Thanks

Hey Kyle, this new spec has only just been announced - give it a week or so to show up online in the right config for you!

Hi Wil,

Did you try pressing the laptop a/v button when the computer is switched off? On my x1 model it starts up a player without booting into windows, perfect for when you want to quickly watch a dvd on the plane.

Dear Wil,

Okay, great; …looking for it now. My nephew needs a new laptop. He has been getting by with a 900 P3, configured with about 190mb ram, and the thing is tough to use when I have XP Pro on it for him.

Those specs are great for that price, even the screen resolution is expected.
At that price, I thought you were going to say, ‘Although folks, the screen does not have any backlighting,’ or worse ‘It is eye-killing passive matrix.’
