games: Geometry Wars: Galaxies

Geometry, wars and galaxies… boys and girls, these are a few of my favourite things!

Check out this episode as I try out the latest Geometry Wars incarnation on the DS. Believe me, you do not want to miss this game! Who’d have thunk it’d scale down so deliciously well?

Wii users, we’d love to hear your feedback on the game too, drop us a line in the comments.

Thanks for watching and have a good weekend guys,

-Katharine

After getting it for the Wii I was going to suggest you reviewed it, after what you said about ports in the #44 I didn’t.

I’m a big fan of Evolved on the Xbox, I play it to pass time in between “proper” games or just to kill some time. Now I have Galaxies I’d rather play that, I’ve got the highest score I probably ever will on the Xbox.

I’m loving the Wii version, the graphics are almost identical to the Xbox, stars, distortions etc. The big difference are the controls, you move with the nunchuck and aim with the wiimote, similar to the DS. You can also use a classic controller but I actually prefer using the wiimote.

A couple of little annoyances I have though.
* There are only three game slots for saving progress/scores.
* You have to remember the names of the planets - there doesn’t seem to be a
pattern in the size or colour
* In two player the camera tracks both players which can get disorienting.

You can upload Retro Evolved to a DS from the Wii. I had a quick go but went back to the Wii version. Seems it might be worth checking out again - I need it to unlock the final galaxy anyway.

If you like the Xbox or DS version you’ll like the Wii version - If only because you can play it on a big screen and not get hand cramps ;)

I loved geometry wars on the 360.

You stretched that drought analogy like a fat guy whos missed breakfast and has found himself wearing under-sized trousers at an all you can eat buffet.

Enjoyable as always, you mentioned Burnout & the Turok demo t’other day, interested to see what you make of them as them Turok is still crawling down my connection and Burnout is nestled fairly firmly in my dvd drive.

On another note, nearing the 50 shows mark already, most impressive!
