games: Metal Slug 3

Today I’m checking out this blast from past, which has just popped up on Xbox Live Arcade. It’s a great high-resolution port of the Neo Geo classic and well worth a blast through. Watch the show for the action!

Once again another excellent review for a classic, mind you I’m really wanting to see your emulator episode (Pong & UFO Enemy Unknown for the Amiga :) ) Keep up the good work.

Oh and Happy New Year

Yeah! I love those jump’n runs / run’n guns… my favorite of all time probably is the Turrican series, especially the Amiga version, thx to Hülsbeck’s fantastic music.
Wasn’t one of the Metal Slugs notorious for its brutality back when it was released or am I confused?

Interesting… Very nice review. I’ve never sat through an entire Metal Slug game. This convinces me to do otherwise, at least once, ha. Well done.

Cheers guys. Matches, I thought I heard something about a Turrican remake not too long ago. A little googling reveals a freeware remake from last summer called Hurrican, and that last year Factor 5 revealed they were doing concepts for a next gen version - check Gamasutra. I didn’t ever play that one, but now i have WINUAE up and running, I’ll check it out!

I’m not sure if it came out over in the UK, but here in the US we saw Metal Slug Anthology, with Metal Slug 1-6 and X on one disc, for the PSP, PS2 and Wii. Not really sure if this game by itself is a value compared to that…
