tech: Tony Hawk Helmet Cam

If you’re an extreme sports junkie, chances are you’ve wanted to record yourself in action. The Hawk Cam promises to capture your wildest moments on camera, but unfortunately doesn’t really deliver - with bad picture quality, a bad frame rate and a price that’s simply too high for what it is.

Drop me a line in the comments and let me know what you think of my leet skating skills.

Oh, and thanks to the wonderful folks at Tonic for the t-shirt. They make great clothes!

Enjoy the show, and check back on Monday for a look at a hot new laptop - or better still, subscribe to the show to make sure you don’t miss an episode! (iTunes store link!)

Good review - right on the mark with the assessment. I am a bit disappointed with the results. Hopefully we’ll be seeing something better soon (and real-time streaming not much after).

I want to know how many times Wil had been on a skateboard before shooting this video. That was a good watch!

I would love to see the unedited version of the skate footage lol

I’ve been looking for something like this for when I go out on ride outs with my Harley but looking for 2 or three so other riders can wear them too. Similar idea to http://www.longwayround.com and http://www.longwaydown.com but this thing obviously doesn’t cut it. Last year the Gadget Show reviewed a rugadised video camera that looked similar to what Wil has here, it had a rubber waterproof casing and was around the same price and the quality was much better, but I can’t find where to buy the damn things.
Fun video Wil, guess you’re not a skate boarder but then neither am I so who am I to judge ;-)

Dude, we expect to see the bloopers in a future episode! I was really hoping this camera was better but maybe a future version will be up to par.
