film: Straightheads

This film starring Gillian Anderson and Danny Dyer has one redeeming feature - our former favourite FBI agent getting her kit off at every opportunity. The rest of the film, however, is dreadful - don’t spend money on it and, if you do, try and get it back! Gratuitous violence and a sorry excuse for a plot make this a must-avoid. The Turkish Delight Piggy Snack, however, is a different matter.

Agree with you about Straightheads - the longest 76 minutes of my life!

“our former favourite FBI agent getting her kit off at every opportunity.”

One time, to be exact. Do us and yourself a favour and don’t write about films you didn’t watch.

Hmm, are you watching the same film? I count twice, to be exact. Do me a favour and think before you commit finger to keyboard…

“I count twice, to be exact.”

Surely, that must mean “at every opportunity.” Why defend moronic statements?

Hyperbole, maybe, but that not the same as writing about something you haven’t seen - lighten dude.

Remember, this movie is bad enough to not even get a single star - I’m willing to give Justin the benefit of the doubt, and figure that his subconcious is obsfurcating his memory of this film for the sake of his own sanity!

And even though I’m now fan of the Piggy Piggy snack feature, I had to laugh out load about the Turkish Delight - now you come to mention it, it does taste soapy.

I MUST import 4 rated or higher piggy piggy snack snak items. On another note, in reference to Mr. Harris an Kite, they are missing the point here. An extremely tasteless film has been put forth. Regardless of the specific amount of clothe shedding their is, the film still seems to degrade those involved and viewing. If I’m to understand, its a movie that you may actually feel dirty while watching it. These are never a fun experience. I will join the glorious crusade of avoiding this movie.

Not to poke fun Justin (maybe a little) but a negative review is still a review. It may have *gasp* drawn attention to the movie. I’m torn to either scold the attention you’ve given to it or commend your sacrifice in sitting through it. Either way, keep up the good work!

If I had only heard your scathing review and not your description of the movie, I would assume we had seen completely different films. While there are TWO parts of the movie that contain violence (the rape and the rape), the first is almost completely implied except for the man getting beaten up. The second, when they get their revenge, the movie shows almost nothing - they imply what she does (showing her thrusting the gun and him screaming) and imply what the man does with the knife, but neither scene graphic whatsoever. This movie is about the least graphic movie in the genre I have EVER seen. The bulk movie dwells on the angst of the couple, how severely they were hurt and how they are coping with it, but handle their pain differently. I am amazed you practically gloss over the horrific events of Happiness (don’t get me wrong, I like Happiness a lot, but much of the content IS horrific - much is funny, but still horrific) but here you are so utterly appalled and horrified by this movie that you give it 0 stars. I think you imagined in Straightheads much more nudity and violence than was actually there — unless the British version contains TONS of extra scenes that the US version doesn’t, or you are reviewing some work print before the final editing. The actual quantity (in seconds) of nudity and (single digit minutes) of violence is very low, compared to almost any movie out there that contains nudity or violence. The way you described it, I was expecting something like Hostel or Wolf Creek. I think you really need to consider re-watching this movie. I have seen plenty of 0-star movies and this is definitely not a a 0-star movie.
