film: Lord of the Rings
Many have maligned this half-completed adaptation of Tolkien’s work as a disaster from start to finish. But re-watching the film, still out on DVD, is an interesting experience. If you put the work in its context in time, it’s actually quite groundbreaking, as I’m sure Tim Burton - famed for his later films rather than his work on this one - would agree. Check it out for yourself once you’ve watched the review.

At last someone who agrees with me !!!
Such a dark and wonderful creation.
You’ve got a perfect depiction of Strider that was never matched by Viggos’ well groomed version.
Numerous genuinely moving moments that grabbed me far more emotionally than Peter Jacksons’ attempt.
And a final set piece that is, dare i say it, perfect.
When i first saw this film many years ago i vowed that if i became a millionaire i’d pay for the 2nd half of it to be made. It seems that both Peter Jackson and my career choices have rendered that dream unlikely at best.
