games: Team Fortress 2

After 10 long years, we finally get a look at Team Fortress 2. And what a different look it is. Check it out in it’s cartoonish glory! I love the new look, but if you’re not a fan of this sort of styling, don’t let that put you off; it’s still a fantastic game for fans of online multiplayer deathmatch. Pick up the Orange Box on PC from Steam or from Amazon for Xbox 360 or PS3 next week.

Subscribe or check back on Friday for my take on Naruto: Ninja Council 3 for the DS.

Until then, remember, rogues do it from behind!

Was it really 10 years? Dosn’t feel like it. But I have to contradict you: If you hate comic-graphics in games as much as I do even the gameplay will not convince you!

You get over the cartoony graphics pretty quick. The gameplay is simple, and very tight. The game keeps you surprisingly busy (ie: I’ve been playing for 2 hours already?)

I totally agree with the review.

It’s a shame that the comic-graphics are putting you off enjoying such a cool game Natural Selector. But it’s not like there’s a shortage of good titles about at the moment. I love cartoony graphics, but I’m also itching to try the Call of Duty 4 multiplayer - maybe you’ll prefer that.

Thanks for the comments everyone :)

There actually is a major downside you forgot to mention. There are only 6 maps (unless you are a smart person and use a PC and can use custom-made levels), and each gametype is locked to a map. There’s only one CTF map! Yahtzee says it better than I. This isn’t an EXACT quote, but “you have territory control in a desert environment, territory control in an industrial environment, or Capture the Flag. In a desert-industrial environment.”
